For me, working with dogs is not only a passion, but a way of life. 

Let’s start with introductions, I’m Karen, I’m a full-time dog trainer and this is ‘Journey Together Dog Training & Behaviour'’.

 

I’ve worked in the industry for more than 10 years, working with hundreds of owners and their dogs to overcome various behavioural problems, and now specialising in canine anxiety and aggression, with a particular passion for rescue dogs.

12 years ago my quest to understand our canine companions began, when a bouncy Boxer/Collie mix pup waltzed into my home and I achieved qualifications in Dog Training and Canine Behavioural Psychology. Since then, and throughout my career, I have continued learning and developing both my theory based knowledge, and practical skills as a dog trainer, and have completed many courses and workshops, and spent far too many hours to count reading studies, watching webinars and attending seminars to ensure that I can give my clients and their dogs the very best, and up to date, advice and guidance possible.

 

I’m also the founder and dog trainer of a local Dog Rescue & Sanctuary, which first opened it’s doors 3 years ago. 'Until Every Dog Has A Home', specialises in the rescue, rehabilitation and care of dogs with severe behavioural problems, in particular dogs displaying aggressive behaviours and dogs with bite histories, the majority of which have been refused by other rescues and face euthanasia. In 2021, we were the proud winners of Animal Star Awards "Animal Rescue of The Year" .

The dogs under the care of the sanctuary, all live on my farm with me, my own dogs and my cat. In total, I’ve got 19 dogs living with me, of varying breeds, ages and backgrounds. Some of them you will have seen many times on this page, and if you’ve ever taken any of my online courses, then you will definitely have seen them. Some of my own dogs have been raised from pups, and others are rescue dogs who I adopted or personally rescued.

 

I absolutely love my job. It can be hard work and long hours, but it is ever so rewarding.

With having the rescue, and the challenging dogs being a part of my everyday life, I really can empathise and understand your challenges, because I’ve gone through them too, and the methods and skills which I teach, I use them too, everyday.
